Description

La Cochette is a buttress of good, limestone rock up high in the lush Chartreuse. The views are sublime at this local above the small village of Corbel.

Around a dozen routes, from single pitch up to 200m long multi pitch. The popular route here appears to be the short, 4 pitch moderate Mon P'tit Piton.

A more quiet, low key location.

1300m in elevation (4300 feet) with a predominantly south facing aspect.

Getting There

From Chambéry, take the D1006 to the D45 past Saint-Jean-de-Cruz for 26 km.

From Grenoble, take the D520 to Saint-Jean-de-Cruz and through Corbel for 57 km.

Uphill from Corbel, at a big hairpin turn just below the Col de la Cluse pass, park in the lot (parking lot on the SW side of the hairpin).

Approach trail due north to the la Cochette buttress on the hillside above.

Allow 15 to 20 minutes of uphill hiking through the forest.
