Description
This is another very worthwhile beachside climbing area, offering around 40-50 climbs with hikes ranging from 0.10-1.25 miles from the parking area.
It is home to some of the most aesthetic boulders that I have found on Long Island and definitely worth a visit for area climbers. There are four distinct boulders/clusters- 'The Golden Boulder', 'The Halfway Cluster', 'The Bluff Boulder' and 'The Stairwell Boulder'.
'The Golden Boulder' is home to three of the most classic lines on Long Island. 'The Halfway Cluster' offers around 4 or 5 smaller boulders that have a selection of fun v0-3ish lines. 'The Bluff Boulder' is a amazing piece of rock split by a stunning diagonal crack. Lastly, 'The Stairwell Boulder' is another large quality block located a bit over a mile from the parking. It's a bit high profile due to its location at the base of someone's stairway to the beach, so try to keep a low profile.

Getting There
From Sound Avenue (Route 48) in Cutchogue, turn onto Depot Road and follow that for just shy of a mile until it turns into Duck Pond Road. Follow Duck Pond Road for another half mile or so until the street ends. Park here and follow the beach west. It is approximately .10 miles to 'The Golden Boulder', 0.5 miles to 'The Halfway Cluster', 0.7 miles to 'The Bluff Boulder' (hidden in a bluff off of the beach) and 1.2 miles to 'The Stairwell Boulder'. There is one smaller boulder located 0.3 miles to the east with a couple of short, easy climbs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Parking is a major issue here. If you park at the dead end (or anywhere on this road) without a Southold town permit, it is likely/possible that you will get a parking ticket, which starts at $75. If you try to park on somebody's lawn or on somebody's property, your car will be towed. Unfortunately, there is no nearby public parking for people without a Southold town permit. If anybody has found alternative options/a good work around, please comment below and share that beta.
