Talking to the Trees Sector

International > Africa > S Africa > Peer's Cave

Description

This area features short powerful lines on quartzite rock. The rock either has high friction or is slick patina. The area is named after one of the best routes there, Talking to the Trees and that should not be missed. The routes range from 5.7 to 5.13b and one super difficult project.

Getting There

From the trailhead, hike along the flat sandy trail. Towards the end the trail it will get a little steeper and there will be many big highly featured boulders. Pretty quickly the start of the cliffs will appear. If you take the fork to the left side of the ridge line you are entering the Talking to the Trees Sector and if you continue on the right side of the ridge line you will be at Amadeus Wall. The overall approach to either of these walls should take 15-20 minutes of mostly flat sandy walking with a bit of uphill scrambling at the end.
