Description
Middle Elden Canyon is a beautiful, archetypal mountain canyon which cuts it’s way down the center southern flanks of Mt. Elden. It is easily spied from numerous points around Flagstaff. Development of routes here date back to at least the early 90’s, and more modern routes are spread throughout the Lower and Upper portions on the canyon. This somewhat rugged canyon is sectioned by a dry falls which takes a bit of scrambling to out maneuver and sometimes leaves unprepared hikers waiting for rescue. Running north to south, the east side of the canyon gets great morning shade and afternoon sun.
There are a myriad of social trails that lead up into the canyon and you will pass numerous established boulders along the way. It might take a few visits to really get a feel for land.
