The area is on the property of Booth Energy. It would be a good idea to keep a low profile, and always give coal haulers the right of way on the short section of haulage road. There is a security shack beside of the mine and it might be a good idea to check in with the dispatcher there for permission. The land is used by hunters and atv riders as well.
Description
This is a ridge-top sandstone outcrop with some short terraced routes. The bottom layer is solid stone with some quality crack climbing. The short middle layer is sandy lower quality rock with more solid Rock above providing opportunity for a few good overhanging routes. Some of the routes can be climbed safely with a bouldering pad.
Getting There
From Williamson WV head north on 119/52 right before 52 splits towards Naugatuck there is a church with two domes on the hill to the right. The access road is immediately after this on the right. From the connector Rd take old 52 immediately on the left. This quickly becomes the haul Rd for Alma #1 mine. After you pass the mine on the right take the next left and head up hill. After the first big switchback the main outcrop is about 150 ft up the hill to your left. You can park in a wide spot here and bushwhack up a steep hill. If you want to keep a lower profile you can continue up hill in a 4wd vehicle and take the first left (obscure) then immediately left. Head out a grassy flat then steep downhill. From here you can walk out a ridge past a nice arete. Keep left to the main area (you will be above the outcrop) hike down a gully for access the routes or set up a TR.
