Description
Named after Hayao Miyazaki—renowned for his wildly imaginative films like Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro—this area features granite formations that feel plucked from one of his dreamscapes: massive, bulbous boulders rising in surreal clusters. The East side hosts steep 50–80 foot trad and mixed routes, while the North side offers two crimpy lines that lead into cracks, each with an optional second pitch. The West side rounds it out with short crack climbs ranging from 5.6 to 5.10, perfect for mileage or gear practice.
Getting There
Try to park at the pull-off on N Granite Gardens Dr (34.60619, -112.41205). If full, use the Prescott Peavine Trailhead and travel 2 miles north. Just before reaching Peavine Dome, locate the bike lock station (34.5940, -112.40725). From there, head east through the red gate along the Boulder Creek Trail. After approximately 0.25 miles, look north toward the granite outcrop (34.59355, -112.40478) to spot the area.
