Getting There
There is one good way to hike up to the Sky Cave and several less than ideal variations. Recently, I have been hiking up past the Skyline boulder trending up towards an area with a few random fir trees (problems in this area include Manual Buck). From the Fir trees continue up the mountain scrambling up Rock Slabs up and right towards a large chossy roof. Just above the roof, scramble your way up onto a boulder to a rocky ridge. Follow this ridge for awhile and a large forked Doug-Fir snag (It's actually alive but barely) should come into view. Pick your way through the boulders on your way up to the big snag. Try not to get sucked into the gullies, stay high on rock slabs when possible. There is one little slight jump across / mantle on the path of least resistance. You will pass a few other boulder problems including Peach Crisp on the way The large snag is directly above the sky cave... approximately 300 feet. There are a few cairns along the way... look for the path of least resistance and enjoy yourself! The pin is accurate. This is one of the more challenging hikes to go bouldering in Flagstaff but the steep boulders problems are certainly worth the hike. I would not recommend hiking more than one pad at least on your first time.
