Description
An insignificant high-point (10,360') on the south end of the ridge ~halfway between Tenaya Peak and Matthes Crest. Insignificant summit, but excellent view of the Cathedral Range and Yosemite points south. Can pretty much guarantee the absence of crowds on the summit.
Getting There
Best for South Buttress or North Ridge: Summit Tenaya Peak. Then walk cross-country to the ridge in between Tenaya and Matthes Crest. Reliable water can be found in a stream on the way. Plan B: Hike the "fisherman's" trail up from the right of Dozier Dome to Lower Cathedral Lake; from here, hike the spur trail to the Muir; turn right (south) until under Columbia Finger; hike around to the west side for the North Ridge or up to the base of the South Buttress. Plan C: Take the Muir Trail south from 120 until under Columbia Finger...
