Description
Number 66 on the Bulgar list, Argonaut is a sizable chunk of good granite. This is the peak on the same ridge-line as Sherpa Peak and Mount Stuart. It is the next peak to the east of Sherpa. From the summit, you will have good views of Stuart, Sherpa, Colchuck, and Dragontail. Based upon the summit register, this summit isn't that popular, but it is definitely worthwhile to climb this. It is do-able to link this with other summits in the area in a single trip.
Getting There
There are many ways to approach this
If doing this as a traverse of the ridge from the west, first descend from the summit of Sherpa to the east. After you are technical terrain, continue descending to the south below the craggier terrain, and contour around back to the northeast. Following the ridge is doable but can be very cumbersome.
Approaching from the south is doable via trails from Ingalls creek trailhead and Beverly turnpike. Wherever you start from, go east on Ingalls Creek Trail. When you are approximately south of the summit, you will meet with Fourth creek trail. Bushwack uphill just to the east of this intersection. Starting from Beverly Turnpike and taking Fourth Creek trail is perhaps the quickest way to here.
Approach from the north is also doable, though I do not have details on this approach at this time. Feel free to comment so I can add to this description.
