Description
The East Face of Power Dome is the "backside" or hidden side of this massive dome. While being overlooked while the west face was being developed more recent activity has produced many quality multi-pitch face routes in a remarkable and secluded location. The East Face offers perfect warm summer afternoon climbs on the sun drenched granite high above Penstemon Creek and surrounding environment.
Getting There
Park at the Geologic Interpretive site 1/8th of a mile east of the dam. Hike east into the Pemstemon Creek basin and follow slabs south until you intersect with the east side of Power Dome. Proceed along the base of the dome to your desired climb. Be care not to drop too far down into Pemstemon Creek lest you like thrashing through Manzonita, Slide Alder, and talus.
