JULY 5 UPDATE FROM PARK MANAGEMENT:
ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Check this site for details: smithrock.com/seasonal-clos…

Description
This giant looking wall is actually only 200ft at its tallest although it looks bigger. Most routes have extensions in the works, with a vision that single pitch 60m routes will voyage to the top when they run straight enough. Those that don't stay straight enough can be done as a multi-pitches. Grades range from 5.12a through 5.13b. Vertical technical smith climbing dominates most of the wall, some steep section with give a good variety to the wall. The walls most iconic and eye catching feature is the "Alex Reed Memorial Route". A proud multi-pitch charging up to the top of the entire cliff in 3 pitches. The second pitch goes through a headwall of perfect rock that is unique to the park!
The wall stays in the shade till 1pm in the summer. In the winter, the wall gets sun around 12pm. A good wall to climb at year around.

Getting There
From the bridge infront of the picnic lunch wall, the approach takes about an hour. Turn right after the bridge on the river tail and hike along the river for about a mile until signs for Burma road appear. Hike to Burma road where an obvious trail starts off the right side of the road and follows along the canal. Follow this to the end of the boulder field. Take a faint trail that heads towards the kangaroo and passes the mudpile. Follow up the hill for a 100 yrds and turn right at a small cairn towards some boulders. From here, cross the large hillside to the left towards the tall Marsupial wall. The well developed trail across the hillside leads right to the salmon colored Maiden Oregon Wall. Go right along the wall to get to the Colosseum for about 100m.
