Description

The crag is southeast facing getting the morning light and afternoon shade. Located
around 1500m elevation temperatures are usually cooler than the valley bottom.
Spectacular views of Ymir Peak and surrounding mountains. 1 bar of cell reception.
Its high mountain cragging at its finest.

Everything is bolted and a 60m rope will reach from all anchor stations. There is a master anchor on a large platform at the top, which can be accessed by scrambling around to the left. From the master anchor you can repel to any other anchor station and set a top rope. Or you can climb from the top of any route to the master anchor using other anchor stations and intermediate bolts to protect yourself. All anchors have rap rings.

Getting There

From Nelson drive south on Hwy 6 towards Salmo, turn right up Porto Rico road. There are water bars so a bit of clearance is recommended. Set trip odometer to 0. Follow road for 7.75 km staying right at every intersection. There are some km markers but a few are missing. About 20 min on the hwy and 20 min on the logging road. There is room to park on the right in a landing overlooked by a tall Larch tree. The trail is on the other side of the road marked by rock cairns on stumps at first then blue and orange flagging tape for the remainder. It is about a 4 min hike to base of the cliff.
