Rocher du Porte

International > Europe > France > 04 Northern Alps > 74 Haute Savoie crags

Description

Short approach with sunny limestone sport climbing and shaded belaying. More than 60 routes with grades from 5.easy to 5.13. Some overgrown vegetation. Don't be surprised if you have the cliff to yourself, or if a guided school group shows up.

12-14 quickdraws and a 60m rope is sufficient for most routes.

On the opposite side of the road with a longer approach is Rocher D'Ombre. Same side of the road and west of La Clusaz is Rocher de la Mottaz, also with a longer approach.

Getting There

Drive to La Clusaz. Rocher du Porte is very visible immediately east of the village, on the north side of the road. Park the car on either side of the road (wide pullouts) and take the well worn trail up to the cliff. 2 minute approach from the car.
