Description
ROCK CLIMBING HERE IS CURRENTLY PROHIBITED.
The routes and area description are being left here for informational posterity. The area itself is off limits to any roped or unroped climbing/scrambling. Climbers can have their equipment confiscated and face fines/jail or both.
Located in Golden Gate Heights, Rock Outcrop Park (ROP) offers a handful of climbs with climbs with exquisite views of West San Francisco/Pacific Ocean.
ROP, offers a handful of short routes that can double as boulder problems.
What you should bring: slings, 50m rope (minimum length), 1-2 crash pads (max).
Rock is very coarse and brittle, expect cracks, crimpy holds, high winds and loose/falling rock.
There are two brand new bolts on top of the main wall (highest boulder on the hill), which can be approached from behind via Ortega road. There is also an old piton and bolt on top of the slightly smaller cliff west of the main wall near the road and telephone poll.
