Ambush Wall Upper

Utah > Wasatch Range > Central Wasatch > Big Cottonwood Canyon

Description

Afternoon shade. This area has a lot of trees. Shady and cool.

Getting There

Drive up the canyon 5.7 miles from the flashing sign. There is a pull out on the North Side of the road. There is an orange sign with "7.8" in black at the pullout. This sign is for "mile marker" 7.8 as it is only a little ways before mile marker 8. Walk down the road and find the mellow trail next to the road sign. Please avoid going up the steep and loose way straight up the hill.

Follow the directions to ambush wall. As you are facing the lower ambush wall walk up and left. You'll pass a steep 5.11d on your right as you walk up past the ambush wall. Continue on up the short but steep trail until the upper wall becomes visible on the hikers right. You can't miss the orangish-tan formation of the cliffs.

[Hide Comment] Beware: Tony Caldarone musta been high on Jesus when he wrote his BCC book--He calls these routes 5.8+ and 5.7. They're both roughly 5.10. At least one climber relying on Caldarone's book apparently wound up hurting himself after jumping on what he thought was a 5.7. Jun 8, 2019
