Description
Although not really an exciting destination and offering only 1-2 pitch climbing, Baylor Canyon has the northernmost climbable rocks on the west side of the Organ Mountains and south of highway 70. There are currently two semi-developed areas accessible from the Baylor Canyon Hiking trail, The Three Stooges to the South and Baylor's Head to the North. Both have a few established routes and potential for future development.
Getting There
To get to the rocks, hike up the nice & easy BLM-maintained trail, and then bushwack off trail for a short way toward the rock. Stuff far left of the trail may be more difficult to access due to excessive Cat's Claw and Prickly Pear, but the Three Stooges to the right and Baylor's Head to the left are very easily accessible. Approaches could take between 0.75-1.5 hrs, with most of it on a good trail. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-mexico/baylor-canyon-pass-via-baylor-canyon-road
