Access Issue: temporarily closed due to logging Details

Description

  • *** Logging has begun on the southern part of Katsuk and the crag will be closed until the logging is complete. Please be respectful of the land owners and stay out, this will be an amazing place once developed and we don't want to loose our climbing privileges. I will update this page with more info when it becomes avaliable.****

Katsuk Butte sits around 5000 ft and has routes facing every direction. This crag is just being developed but holds hundreds of lines. The approach isn't the most pleasant but it will help keep traffic low

Getting There

You access the crag from road 1986 near cougar dam. You have to park at a yellow gate and hike in about 1 1/2 miles. I will add photos of the approach once i take them.

could you post a description of how to get there? I tried to get there, but I first ran into a gated road, and then a forest road that was too bad to drive... Jun 3, 2018

to get to Katsuk- turn onto quartz creek rd (NF-2618) drive for several miles until you reach NF-1985 (turn left), stay on this road for several more miles until reaching NF-1986 (turn left), from 1986 its about 2 miles until you reach a fork in the road, hang a left (NF-132) and the yellow gate is a couple hundred yards down the road. You park at the gate and walk in from there. From the gate you will take the left logging road that heads uphill- its about a mile and a half up that road to the base of the crag..... Once the landslide by cougar is cleared up the drive will be much shorter Jun 3, 2018
