Attention:
Don't climb on wet rock! Sandstone is a porous rock type that can absorb a lot of water. It can lose up to 75% of its strength while wet, making it easy to snap off holds and irreparably damage classic climbs. Wait 48 to 72hrs after precipitation. If the ground is still damp then the rock is still wet. A great way to check for precipitation history before traveling to Joe's is to go to this site-

and under "Data Charts" click the "Precipitation" tab. Make sure the surface wetness is 0 before climbing.

Description
This mostly-new area has been recently developed into a worthy destination. Located very close to New Joe’s proper; but with a shadier aspect, this area is a nice change of pace and offers many nice moderate problems along with a few harder lines and potential for more. I see no access issues with this area and no reason not to publish it here. As far as I can tell these boulders are mostly on USFS land, with some of the approach on BLM land. The parking and approach go nowhere near any existing oil infrastructure or roads. In addition, the approach and boulders are mostly in a sandy wash, so erosion concerns are minimal. Most blocks face NE-ish and get afternoon shade. Although the lowest-hanging fruit has been picked, there’s a lot of potential left out here from immaculate V0 slabs to futuristic-looking V-Hard highballs. All of the established problems have seen limited ascents, so expect a slightly fresh feel and take all grades with a grain of salt. I’m happy to adjust grades as consensus emerges. Unlike New Joe’s, this area holds moisture for a while after rain. Please do not climb here if the sand in the wash is wet at all.
Getting There
Park in a large gravel lot on the left side of the road as you drive north on 57. The lot is past the turn-off for the “new” New Joe’s parking lot (pit toilet), but before you get to the old roadside parking and the Ghost King boulder. It you pass the large wash on the left, you’ve gone too far. Walk the road north about 300 feet and enter the wash when it meets the road via a trail around the talus. Walk up the wash. Expect 25-30 minutes to get to the Washing Machine area. See individual sections for more details. This hike is slightly long but pretty flat by Joe’s standards. In the spots where the trail deviates from the wash, I have tried my best to establish sustainable and well-marked trails. Please be attentive and follow these.
