Access Issue: Climbing open to MCU members Details

The Muyenga Quarry is owned privately and MCU has an agreement with the landowner to allow access to member climbers. All bolts and chains are maintained by the Mountain Club of Uganda (MCU). To learn how to become a member, visit MCU.ug.

Description

The MCU Muyenga Quarry opened in 2017 and is the only outdoor rock climbing in Kampala! The quarry consists of three rock faces. The right-hand and middle faces are well developed and have been bolted with 20+ routes for top rope and lead climbing. New routes continue to be added as the left-hand face gets developed. The quarry is open at all times to MCU members. MCU also runs climbing events at the quarry a few times during the month, during which the club offers equipment rental (ropes, shoes, harness, belay device) to those who don't have their own gear. Getting There

Head Southeast on Tank Hill Road. Turn left at Kalungi Road. Turn right onto Kawagga Close. The quarry is located at the end of Kawagga Close. Parking is available on the quarry property. The approach to the crag is a 1-2 minute walk to the right of the parking area.
