Description Suggest change

Goyangyi is a small peninsula on the west coast of Myanmar, surrounded by beautiful beaches, good water clarity and plenty of deep water soloing potential. There are regular ferries that take you round the tip of the peninsula for 1000 kyat and you can jump off whenever you see a rock that takes your fancy. On weekends the boats are so regular that you can easily hitch hike back to the beach when you're done climbing. The rocks that stand alone can usually be climbed regardless of tide, exercise plenty of caution with the crags coming off the land - the water is about 3 metres deep at high tide at Goyangyi Classic for example. Sea snakes and brittle rock are other hazards to be aware of.

Getting There Suggest change

It's a bumpy 8-10 hours bus journey from Yangon. The easiest way to access the DWS is by taking a boat ferry from the far end of the southern beach of the peninsula, under the pagoda viewpoint on the hill. Alternatively if you want to explore some rocks a bit further afield you can rent a boat for about 10-20 dollars an hour.
