Warning Access Issue: Requires a payment of 1,000 Pesos to Chabela for climbing in that area. DetailsDrop down

Description

This area features beautiful single pitch cragging in the valley below Cerro Castille. The climbing will give you cracks, pockets, slab, and even the steepness. Routes range from 5.8 to 5.14. This area's development began in 2016 during a Mammut Roctrip and to date there seems to be 200 routes.

There is camping at Chabela for 6,000 pesos per day. The camping has primitive bathrooms, drinking water, and an interesting refugio for cooking. There are 5 main areas with two of them being within 30 minutes of one another. The rest you need to have a car for as they are not exactly close in proximity but certainly close to town.

Every sport climbing crag is in private land, access issues have developed due to:

  • Dogs.
  • Fire & camping without permission
  • Rude and disrespectful climbers
  • Partys, music, alcohol and weed smoking on camping places.
  • Garbage
  • Entering and leaving without paying the current entry fee.

Please do behave live a careful visitor, we will be always welcome to foreign climbers, please help to improve and keep every sport crag clean and with open access.

Getting There

Depending on which crag you go to the approach can be as long as 30 seconds or 30 minutes.
