Description

Along with the sister valley Valeille (Lillaz), one of Europe's ice climbing meccas. Relatively easy approachs, consistent and straightforward avalanche and ice conditions make it an easy place to get in a lot of pitches on fantastic ice with great views.

Note that the location of most climbs in the area are described as being either on the right or the left when looking down valley towards town. The left side is south facing and gets significantly more sun than the north facing right side.

Routes are sorted from the first route encountered on the north side (left side during the approach) and then down to the end of the valley and then back up the south side (right side during approach)

Getting There

From Aosta, drive up the Val di Cogne until you reach the town. There is an excellent cafe here which serves as a center for ice climbers (they have guidebooks and a log of recent climbs as well as morning coffee and awesome post-climb pizza).

To reach the climbs, turn right in the middle of town (Rue Grand Paradis) and park in the lot where it ends. Then continue along the obvious path in to the valley.
