Description Suggest change

Located on the south bank of the Gunpowder River, The Overlook offers nearby adventure climbing. Easy to moderate top rope and trad. The main wall was faces north and overlooks the river.  Beautiful.

Also referred to as "Meru", ironically, after the heinous Himalayan peak featured in the 2015 Jimmy Chin documentary of the same name.  Finally climbed by Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk in 2011, Mount Meru punished the three men and pushed them to their limit. Not so in the Gunpowder.  Enjoy.

Getting There Suggest change

Take the Gunpowder South trail from the Hereford Area parking pull-out on York Road just before it crosses the Gunpowder River. A 20 minute approach.

It's a couple minutes farther down the river than the marker on Mountain Project suggests.
