Description Suggest change

Hard limestone climbing with developed routes on south and south west facing walls. The routes at Miller Springs date back to the early 90's and the style is typical of the era, pulling big moves on comfortable drilled mono's and two finger pockets, linking otherwise blank sections of wall with the few natural features which include hand-sized up to truck sized hueco's. Jack Mileski, who bolted and FA'ed many of the routes here coined the term "beta" for describing the sequences to his routes here at Miller Springs.

Getting There Suggest change

From Austin: Take I-35 north to exit 292 - loop 121 and turn left onto loop 121. Follow this road until it dead ends into 439 and go left. The entrance to the park will be on your right in about 1 mile. Look for signs for Miller Springs Park.

From Dallas: Take I-35 south to exit 301 - 2305/W Adams Avenue. Follow 2305 into Belton until it intersects with FM 2271. Go left on FM 2271 over the dam until the dead end into 439/Lake Road. Go left on Lake Road and the entrance to the park will be immediately on your left.

Hiking in: Once you've parked, go up towards the dam spillway, through the gate, and around following the trail to the sign kiosk. The climbing is located on the far southeast side of the park in the last canyon within the park boundaries. Follow various hike and bike trails (as of 2021, follow the yellow trail to the purple trail until the purple dead ends into the large road/trail, follow this to the right until the bridge) around the river inlet, through the field and south along the cliffline until you reach the last fork in the trail going off to the left. This fork takes you to wrath wall, otherwise keep going straight over an old iron bridge onto a paved road and Front Wall will be up on your left. Expect approximately a 1.5 mile hike from the car to the climbing.

The only legal access points are from the Corps of engineers Parks/Miller Springs and public boat  ramps allong the Leon River.  Any other sites involve trespassing.
