Access Issue: Easiest access is over private land and bridge Details
Public access via the State Park and BLM is available.
Beautiful side canyon to the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie, Sinks Canyon. Assortment of Tensleep Sandstone routes low in the canyon, just above the confluence, and remote climbs and boulders, some on Fountain Sandstone high in the Canyon below Fossil Hill, by Geoff Shulyter. A remote place, no established trails, a few sandy, small classics. A natural sandstone arch, lots of wildlife, Winter winds even load some of Sawmill bowls with ski-able snow. Approximately 20 routes at the confluence. See Lander Rock 2005 Collins-White for these routes.
For year round public access, park near the Rise of the Popo Agie, hike south across overflow fork, dry except in spring flood and then east to Sawmill Creek and the crag. Or drive the private Canyon Shadows Road off of highway just east of Sinks Canyon State Park. See Lander Rock 2005 Collins/White for details and all routes.
