Description Suggest change

Opal Mt (where the radio towers are) is the massif of the Eldorado Mountains in which Keyhole Canyon resides. The lower west slopes of Opal Mt, south of Keyhole, are peppered with little pockets of good climbing. These hillsides are home to dozens of small faces up to 80ish feet high, the tallest contiguous cliff of Keyhole- White Dream Slab, and also the highest concentrations of bouldering. The rock is mostly high quality all the way to the next big canyon coming down off of Opal Mt 1.5 miles to the south of Keyhole. South of here the rock outcrops are very degenerated and not so good for climbing until you get to Knob Hill.

Getting There Suggest change

For everything from Keyhole to the Paiute Boulders/Crags, walk south from the mouth of Keyhole or drive up the wash directly below the Paiute Boulder from the power line road. Everything south of the Paiute Boulders is best reached by parking at the end of the faint road under White Dream Slab: Follow the power line road past the Keyhole turnoffs for about a mile. Immediately past the cattle guard is a tower on the left. Take the service turnoff to this, stay to the towers left and follow a faint road onto the desert cobble, don't squish the creosote bushes. The road ends at the large wash bellow White Dream as obscurely as it started with limited parking.
