Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek
Details
WET ROCK: Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN MOAB during or after rain.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Description
This insignificant tower is located exactly 1.9 miles north of the Arches National Park boundary on the east side of the road. It resembles a nice set of butt cheeks or perhaps a tombstone, and is fairly obvious if you are paying attention - it is the only notable formation on that stretch of road. The prominent face of the formation faces Southwest, making it a nice, sunny outing in the cooler months.
Getting There
Park on the side of BLM Rd. 145 (a.k.a. Salt Valley Rd) exactly 1.9 miles north of the Arches National Park boundary, which is very well marked. Hike across the flat field, avoiding cactus, for 1/4 mile then make a short scramble up to the base of the formation.
