It looks like we've got enough areas written up here to add this Crystal Basin page. Bob Branscomb of Placerville was one of the climbers that developed routes all over this region, and published some in his "Climbing Guide to the Crystal Basin."
Getting There [Edit]
A nice wild area spotted with a few public settlements and resorts. Despite its proximity to other more-climbed areas, its extra driving and hiking time on slow roads makes it less popular to climbers as a whole than freeway adjacent crags. Most visitors drive in on Ice House or Wrights Lake Road from highway 50.
