Description

Afternoon and evening shade.
Quartz Monzonite climbing in the cedar and pine trees. All sport climbing, single pitch about 60'. This area has a lot more friction than the basalt crags near by and is mostly technical face climbing. Cliff starts going into the shade around 2 pm and is fully shaded by around 4 pm. Crag sits around 5,500 elevation so temperatures are typically 15+ degrees cooler than St George. There is also a great potential for bouldering below the cliff band, with a few high balls over 20 feet.

Getting There

From St. George head north on SR 18 till you hit the Pine Valley turnoff a few miles outside of Veyo. Head east towards Pine Valley. Take the left hand dirt road 2.6 miles up the highway at a unmarked road post. Follow this dirt road (4x4 IF it has been raining!!) for approximately 1 mile. Look for a left hand turn that makes a small loop to turn around, there are rock cairns on the right hand side that mark a faint trail with cairns all the way up. Follow the trail west to the cliff line. Approach time from here is approx. 12-15 minutes.
