Description

Unfortunately the closest road to these crags is completely lined with Private Property and at this time there has not been an agreement made with the property owners to access the crags from this road. Until the developers come to an agreement with the local community and private landowners about access, we do not recommend visiting these crags. We will post more as soon as some positive developments are made in our negotiations with the nearby landowners.

Getting There

There is currently conflict between developers and local land owners over access to this crag. Until, the developers come to an agreement with the nearby community and private landowners, we do not recommend visiting these crags.

Went there yesterday. Beautiful, sweeping views. Most, if not all, of the rock was burned to a crisp when the fire roared through, in the mid-nineties. All of the lichen was vaporized. The rock is composed of the Silver Plume granite, which also composes the South St Vrain, Lumpy Ridge, and The Diamond. Here its surface is grainy and sometimes crumbly, so I applaud the use of half-inch bolts. All of the routes on RaS were intelligently bolted, although most of Best Bottom and Raspberry Crack could be protected with gear. The slack line spanning the gulch looks amazingly long. Oct 9, 2017

Can we get a bit more beta on the approach? Can you reach the crags from county road 87J? It would seem like a very easy approach unless County Road 87J is lined with fences or private property? Parking at Lefthand Canyon and James Canyon to basically hike all the way to Fairview Peak seems incredibly difficult and long, yet there is no mention of that in the approach description. Am I wrong? Nov 26, 2017

Hi Travis...please see the description above. I just edited it to include information about 87J. It is in fact lined with private property and until we come to an agreement with the landowners, no access is abailable from that road. We will update with more iinformation
as we continue working with the landowners. Nov 26, 2017
