Sub Vârf (Below the Summit Crag)

International > Europe > Romania > Brasov > Tâmpa Mountain

Description

Below the actual summit is a short cliff with a good view of downtown below. This cliff has several moderate climbs. This cliff sits directly below a viewing deck and where tourists hang out on sunny summer weekends, so as with other areas that have non-climbers above them it may be a good idea to make it known you are there to avoid getting hit with bottles or rocks on busy days. Sometimes paragliders leap from this cliff, I've seen one that fell to the cliff base here. This cliff is cheerful as it gets hit with golden sunset light and the woods are beautiful here.

Getting There

If using the cable car hike to the real summit, avoid going down to the Brasov sign spur trail. Go to the summit, then continue down a bit until you can bushwhack down the hill and traverse back under the cliff.
