Description
Tâmpa mountain stands prominently above the old town center of Brasov. There are a few exposed cliffs on this mountain, none of which are very high, but they are very fun as they offer a great view of the city below and catch the sunset light. Part of the mountain has been recently marred in the late 2000s by a ridiculous huge sign saying "Brasov", Hollywood style, in the same spot where communists had put the name "Stalin" in the 1950s. The good news is they did not damage or cover any of the cliffs used by climbers. This mountain is an important resource for city dwellers as a place to hike and keep fit, and climb with a grand open feel, different than Pietrele lui Solomon nearby.
Getting There
Access the crags by using the telecabina (cable car) or hiking up about 900 vertical feet.
