11. Sea of Joy

Idaho > Central Idaho > Fins > Mortal Earth

Description

Sea of Joy, the second crag to the south of Stone Temple, has mostly two pitch climbs.  The first pitches are usually terraced grey limestone approaches for the high quality second pitches.  The upper faces of Sea of Joy are long and  have steep, continuous face climbing on amazing chert knobs.

Getting There

From the parking, follow the established trail and after a couple hundred yards, take a right at the trail junction.  Follow the trail to the base of Stone Temple.  Continue up and south along the base of Stone Temple and gain a saddle and flat(ish) region.  This is the base area for Dark Side of the Moon and Sea of Joy.

See the trail map.

The developed crags of Mortal Earth are visible from the parking, see the beta picture.

For another perspective, check out the aerial overview for trail and crag location.
