Description

Le Bec de L’Aigle is a more quiet location with a cool northwest aspect. Thin, technical limestone slab climbing on solid, sometimes sticky, sometimes smooth rock.

Around 10 routes, some with a mid anchor, with routes in the moderate range from 4 to 6b+.

The longer routes here can consume a full 70m rope. Tie in a knot in the blunt end of your rope!

Great views from this high raptor perch of the surrounding countryside.

Quick to dry especially with a breeze and some afternoon sun.

Getting There

From the RN75 south of Serres, take the D21 to Savournon. From Savournon, go north on the D48 towards La Bâtie-Montsaléon. Park at the Col La Croix and hike southwest on the trail (marked in yellow) toward Le Bec de L’Aigle (the eagle’s beak). Near the beak, go right around to the north to the base of the routes on the NW side of the summit.

Hike from the car park takes around 15 minutes.

From Orpierre, the drive is around 23 kilometers. 38 kilometers if driving from Sisteron.
