Carson Pass Highway (88)

California > Lake Tahoe

Description

The idea for this grouping was inspired by the Climb Highway 88 website.

Some of the better loved spots along 88 are Cal Domes for tall multi pitch lines, Silver Lake for topropes, Woodfords Canyon for a concentrated variety of routes, and Bear River Reservoir for obscure wilderness rock.

Getting There

California State Route 88 connects Stockton, California to the Nevada border near Minden. It's called the Carson Pass Highway because it crosses that impressive gap at its high point. That same high section closes it to through drives each winter.
