Description
Manitoulin Island is the most prominent island in Lake Huron. It is the largest freshwater island in the world, and is a mix of lakes, rural pasture land, and lush forests. The climbing is on a strip of Niagara Escarpment on beautifully pleasant rock. The cliff bands are around 15 to 25 meters high, and are accessed by a popular trail, the Cup and Saucer.
Getting There
The island is accessed by vehicle to the North through the town of Little Current, or by Ferry from the Southeast from Tobermory. The drive from Espanola is an hour to the climbing. The ferry is an hour and half boat ride, and another hour drive once on the island to the climbing. Plan on an hour of waiting in line for the ferry.
