Description
Lehamite Falls is a good hike (~1 hr) up Indian Canyon and can be seasonally seen on the right wall. This canyon historically was the exit from the valley by indigenous peoples when heading to the high country North and East. It is home to some secluded and obscure classics on either side of the cascade that are well worth a visit with a unique Yose adventure hike. Being due West facing they can be very good mid-summer shaded routes with an early start.
Getting There
Indian Canyon Creek can be picked up to the West of the Church Bowl and is paralleled while walking on the East side of the stream for the approach. Midway, the creek goes under a huge boulder field and the right wall becomes steep. Ladders are bolted onto the right wall to help maintain a telephone cable laid in the canyon (I think its telephone anyways). Climb these ladders to get easily above the choke point, traverse a section with a hand rail cable for safety (via ferrata lol) and then follow the base of the cliff to the first routes (Knuckle Buster and The Wand). Maps and Legends and Police State are to the left of the falls a little further on, just above Lehamite Creek.
