Getting weather forecast...
Description"Some rise, some fall, some climb to get to Terrapin."
This is a beautiful and secluded wall above a pond called "Sheep Tarn" just to the west of the small pass between Ross Lake and the Wasson Fork of Jakey's Creek. Route development is a continuing process here. I placed a summit register on this sharp peak on 8-6-17 and found no evidence the summit had been reached previously.
The descent is the same for all routes: scramble down to a large grassy ledge with a huge and prominent dead tree and rappel off the tree. I found a very old sling on this tree. I do not know what route was climbed by the person who placed this sling, and I do not know if they visited the summit (I found no evidence of this). I am claiming first ascents of the routes I climb until someone can inform me otherwise.
Private Property Details
The approach road (County Road 411/Trail Lake Road) runs through private land on an easement from the Whiskey Basin wildlife reserve to the public campground at the head of Ring Lake. It is illegal to leave the road without permission from the landowners in this area except for the boat ramp at Torrey Lake provided on a goodwill basis.
