Access Issue: Possible Peregrine Falcon nesting site Details

Note: In the Spring and Summer months of 2017, there were active Peregrine Falcons in the area directly above the gravel pit and to the east. Please respect the nesting Falcons and do not climb in this zone if they are present during nesting months. UPDATE: May 2018, no Falcons were observed. June 2019, no Falcons were observed.

Description

Kama Lookout is the furthest east side of the Kama Bay hills and the easiest to access from the road. There are two parking areas for a scenic view off Hwy 17, thus how the area got its name.

The cliffs range in height from just a few meters high to aprox. 50-60+ meters tall in some areas. There are beautifully steep walls, striking buttresses and splitter crack systems across the whole of the area.

Getting There

To get to the climbing area, park outside of the gate (do NOT block it) of the gravel pit located a few hundred meters east of the eastern most scenic lookout parking along Hwy 17,
