This area has peaks and multi-pitch rock routes in the Aiguilles Rouges range above the northwest side of the Chamonix valley.

It is north of the the Index and Buet areas of the Aiguilles Rouges. It is the north-most area of the Aiguilles in the country of France, and touches the country of Switzerland.

Climbing routes in this Emosson area are usually reached from the country of Switzerland, by driving up to Parking (GPS lat long approx N46.0689 E6.9379) by the dam (elevation 1840 meters) of the Lac d'Emosson (lower lake), which is above the village of Finhaut (Switzerland).
