Cerro Grande

International > N America > Honduras

Description

The Cerro Grande area is located 30 minutes from downtown Tegucigalpa, on the road that leads to Olancho east of Honduras. It is free to enter and is the most popular crag in Honduras. The first routes were bolted around 2007. The bolts are stainless and very sturdy.

The area has around 20 routes, it's private property but the owners let the climbers go freely. Just tell the guards at the gate off of Olancho that you're there to climb and they'll let you in. After parking the car there is a small trek that leads to the crag, about 15 mins walk.

Here is a Google Maps pin for the parking area:

Walk back up the hill from the parking area to the trailhead on your left. The walk in is very steep and not very kid or dog friendly.
