Description Suggest change

This is one of the top family friendly crags near Stuttgart. Consisting of an old sandstone quarry, the approach is easy (5-10min), the terrain is flat and the rock is very different from the Swabian Jura/Alb.

The rock is "Bundsandstein" and consists of a mix of "natural" holds as they were left from the quarry and some that were intentionally drilled for climbers later on.

There's a huge flat area with tons of shade and a campfire place, lots of space for kids to run around safely and many trees to put up a hammock. Overall, it's a good place to spend a chill day at the crag.

Some rock is solid, other areas can be pretty dusty/sandy with some loose stuff. But overall, it's still good quality rock on average and it's so popular, loose stuff doesn't stay there for too long.

Getting There Suggest change

Just minutes from Kentheim. Take the B463 and watch for the Oelaenderle sign where the sharp river bend is. Take a right and park on the side of the unnpaved road after the little house. Then head back the way you came , crossing where you drive in and take the right hand path uphill. At the first sign, go left for a few seconds and then uphill again. The crag is there. 5 minutes total from the parking lot!
