DescriptionHermit wall (AKA the Falls area) is a West-facing wall on the far side of Bhoothanatha Lake (AKA Agasthya Lake). This crag is best climbed in the morning to escape the sun. Expect curious locals and devious monkeys.
This wall is home to some truly excellent mixed/sport climbs that largely fall between 6a to 7b. In my opinion, this area (Hermit wall and Badami generally) has some of the best sport climbing in all of India.
The downside to all this is that it is difficult to find quality information on the climbs in this area, so be prepared to pay for a guide or be ready for some adventurous climbing!
Below are a few links that I found to be at least somewhat helpful:
Getting ThereThis crag is at the far end of Bhoothanatha lake and behind the temples located on its shores. Starting from the bus station you head south-ish on the main street for 500 meters until you arrive at the India post, which will be on your right. At this point, take a left and navigate through the streets trending toward the Vishnu and Bhoothanatha temples on the far side of the lake. The housing and streets will dwindle off until you find a trail adorned with white painted rocks heading into the hills beyond the city. About 100-150 meters down the trail you'll find a small partly overgrown trail on your right that leads up to the foot of the crag.
