Access Issue: Climbing Banned in Nam Phong National Park

A lot of questions coming in about climbing banned in Hin Chang Si, Nam Phong National Park. This is the sign at bouldering trail head! As in other places in Thailand, the issue of access has always been a difficult issue. In Hin Chang Si, this issue is made worse by the fact that it is located in an area designated as a National Park. We have had and continue to have positive relations with local officials at the park, but unfortunately this positive relationship does not extend to the higher levels of management in Bangkok. We recommend tourists to NO LONGER CLIMB at Hin Chang Si so as to not endanger overall access to the area. We are working to secure recognition from the National Park Service in Bangkok. The process will take time like working with other government agency in general. Gaining legal access will be impossible if tourists keep coming and violating the authorities to climb there. Until we gain the legal access, boulders in Nam Phong National Park is off limits. WE ARE
Description
Another section down the hill from Lower Meadow. Hiking in you in find the Gate Keeper boulder. Walk in further and you will reach a big boulder field of 36 boulder and hundreds of problems and projects.
Getting There
Park along side of the street down the hill about 100 meters before the main parking lot to the Lower Meadow. The access has a red triangle trail mark (see photo). Refer to the map or contact Khon Kaen Climbing Club for more info.
