Central Buttress

International > Europe > United Kingdom > England > S West > Avon Gorge > Main Area

Description

This is the textured mass of roofs, ramps and overlaps to the right of Evening Wall and directly above the Exhibition Slab. It features classic climbing in the VS-E1 range with (relatively) more positive and less polished holds than its near neighbors. It is definitely worth a visit if this is your grade range.

Getting There

Approach the Morning Slab and continue 20 seconds beyond it. Some routes start from ledges part-way up the vegetated bowl to the left of the Exhibition Slab, while others start from the top of the Exhibition Slab. You can pitch these approaches out (~20 m) or easily scramble them in approach shoes.
