Description

Fairly accessible 15" boulders along the Robbins Branch Creek Trailhead inside the Birkhead Wilderness/Uwharrie National Forest. There are several moderate routes up nice granite that is surprisingly free of surrounding vegetation. Moves tend to be delicate friction steps, don't come expecting juggy overhands here.

Getting There

Coming from Asheboro, take Lassiter Mill Road south into Birkhead Mountains Wilderness. About 4 miles past the National Forest sign, turn onto a dirt road that is marked Robbins Branch Trailhead. There is a parking lot at the end of the dirt road. Take the main trail for about half a mile, making only right turns, until you see a clear line of boulders to the left of the trail. Follow the line up a hill, and you will see an obvious 15" boulder.

Around 20 minutes from Asheboro, 45 from Greensboro, and 1:30 from Raleigh.
