High Plains Bouldering in Central Montana. A short approach into a shallow limestone canyon. Many opportunities from 8' up to 35'. The "new" limestone feel of this place is tough on the hands, like getting chewed by puppy teeth, but it should buff out with more traffic and while it lasts it is very grippy. There is both sunny and shaded climbing. Maybe hot in summer. There is a lot of potential for granite climbing (trad and bouldering) higher up Wolf Butte.

The established ethic for new routes and boulder problems in this area is that anyone is welcome to develop as long as their ambition is to create thoughtful and aesthetic lines. To this end the development should be about the line and not the person that created it. Therefore we have a stated policy that first ascent information be left blank. Please respect this ethic. Just say no to the fame game and help us develop this into a welcoming environment where climbing is first.

From Great Falls, MT, travel east on highway 87/200 toward Geyser, MT. Just after passing Geyser look to the south (right) for National forest sign indicating Lone Tree road, follow this to a T-intersection and continue on main passage to the left. The road will gradually turn right continuing toward the mountains. Pass the two big ranch houses (look for cows eating placentas in March!). The road will approach some low limestone cliffs, look for a road to a corral on the left just past the cliffs. Park off to the side of the locked barb wire fence. This is state of MT land. The bouldering is just past the fence in the canyon.
