Description
Sleepy Hollow has been around for about 15 years as a climbing area. It has a broad mix of grades from 5.7 to 5.13. This is certainly not a “destination" area, but it can be a super fun place to climb when it is a bit too hot (or too wet or too crowded) for Red Rock and too cold for Mt. Charleston. That said, there are also a few truly classic routes here.
SEASON: Wall gets shade for most of the day...for most of the year. We have climbed here in February and in August, but it is best when it is between 75 and 95 degrees in town. It will be approximately 10 degrees cooler here (and shady). Perfect conditions when it is too hot for sport climbing in most of Red Rock and still a little chilly on most of Mt Charleston.
The EnTRAPment wall gets considerably more sun than the rest of the area. It goes into the shade at about noon.
The ZERO minute hike is awesome. The drive, however, is a bit long.
There are lots of interesting walls on the drive back here...and when you are here.
Be sure to check ownership before exploring/developing:

Getting There
Look at this MAP closely. (Zoom Out)

Drive toward Mt. Potosi and Pahrump. Take a left on Mt. Potosi Canyon Road (this is Forest Service Road 582). Drive this nicely groomed road until it degrades considerably and you pass the last building (an A Frame house) on the right. Drive around some dirt lumps…and soon, take a left onto 583 (there are brown FS road signs)….drive through the “wash “ that is 583 (which is still fine in 2WD). Head up a noticeably steep but easy hill and soon take a left on 584 (this is where 4WD soon becomes highly recommended...if not mandatory). Do not take the later left onto 584A (stay right there to stay on 584). The road will eventually END directly at the cliff at a small wooden power line pole. This is all very simple, but it is good idea to look at the google map several times before going.
