Description
Upper Slabs and Dodge Dart area is the far right side of the Spring Mtn Crags. It is comprised of a couple smaller walls separated by grassy benches.
The first routes are just right of the very prominent year-round waterfall. Starting with Vitamin R, Romantica, and Ticktock.
The Next formation uphill is the Dodge Dart Area. Its namesake is derived from an early season adventure on the slabs with some unseen patches of melting ice above the upper wall. As the sun hit the valley, a volley of softball sized ice chunks came down on the unsuspecting climbers. A solid whack on the helmet was followed by an interesting dance sequence by the leader.
Getting There
About 35-40 minutes from the road. Follow the trail up from the pullout. Passing through the Lucid Boulders. After about 20 minutes, you come to a couple of cairns, continue uphill. the trail trends right and around boulder to the toe of a large buttress (base of the Cloven Roof). There is a faint trail right to the first rock wash. head uphill for 50'. traverse right to the next rock wash and follow that up to a small opening and the base of Romanitca. You should see a very prominent year-round waterfall dihedral just left of Romatica. The Dodge Dart area is about 150' further uphill from here. follow the path of least resistance to get there.
