Description
A small limestone canyon that has some boulder problems and Dry Tooling options on the east side of Laramie. There are numerous shorter dry tooling traverses, a long traverse, and vertical climbs along with an 18' seep that freezes from snow melt. The seep and adjacent ledges make for some good mixed climbing practice along the Dry Tool traverse. After heavy snow and a good freeze-thaw cycle the seep can become a thick ice wall and real ice climbing can be done!
PLEASE DRY TOOL HERE AND NOT ROGERS CANYON!!!!

Getting There
The Grotto is located on the east edge of the City of Laramie (maybe even within city limits). Walk, run, or ride a bike to the small canyon immediately north of and under the big water tower seen in the foot hills east of the Golf Course.
There are three parking areas and possible approaches (see map). 1) The closest approach is via parking on the southeast edge of Alta Vista neighborhood on the corner of 45th and E Crow Dr. Walk east and up the canyon, 2) Park at the loop on the east end of E. Willett Dr., cross the open prairie to the north end of the red ridge and walk into the canyon, and 3) park on the north end of Boulder Dr. in the dirt lot behind the Snowy Range Academy School. Walk over the top of the ridge on two-tracks.
